Unidentified drones were sighted over four airports in Denmark — Aalborg, Esbjerg, Sonderborg, and the Skrydstrup airbase — late Wednesday and early Thursday, police confirmed.
According to AFP, the incidents briefly disrupted operations, with one airport forced to shut for several hours before resuming flights. Chief Inspector Jesper Bojgaard Madsen told BBC that authorities are still investigating the matter. “We cannot yet comment on the purpose of the drones flying in the area, nor can we say anything about who the actor behind it is,” he said.
Police noted that the drones eventually left the restricted airspace on their own. However, officials emphasized that they are “taking the situation seriously” as investigations continue into the origin and intent of the flights.
The unusual sightings have raised security concerns given the sensitive nature of airspace around both civilian and military facilities.
