Following Operation Sindoor, the Indian players have stuck to their stance of avoiding customary greetings with Pakistan, and the Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours clash in Dubai was no exception. After scripting another six-wicket win over their arch-rivals, India once again skipped handshakes with Pakistani players — both before and after the game.
A viral video captured a telling moment from the post-match routine, where head coach Gautam Gambhir instructed his side, “Umpires se toh mil lo (At least greet the umpires).” Suryakumar Yadav and his men then walked across, shook hands with the officials, and headed straight back to the dressing room without acknowledging the opposition.

This second straight handshake snub has added fuel to the ongoing controversy that first erupted in the group stage, when match referee Andy Pycroft was informed of India’s stance. Gambhir, later on Instagram, amplified the mood with a one-word caption on his team’s photo: “Fearless.”
The atmosphere on the field mirrored the tension, with Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill involved in heated exchanges with Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi. Abhishek later posted a sharp dig: “You talk, we win,” underlining India’s dominance in both word and action.
