Fermenta Biotech Limited, one of India’s leading makers of high-quality APIs, intermediates, and nutritional premixes, has announced a major restructuring move. The company’s Board of Directors has approved the sale of its environmental solutions business to its wholly owned subsidiary, Fermenta Environment Solutions Private Limited (FESPL), through a slump sale. The transfer will take effect from October 1, 2025.
The move is designed to give sharper focus to both Fermenta Biotech and its subsidiary. While the parent company continues to build its global presence in pharmaceuticals and nutrition, FESPL will take charge of developing and scaling environmental solutions.
FESPL will continue to operate and expand in areas such as solid waste management, wastewater and water treatment, lake and pond bioremediation, fly ash handling, soil and ground remediation, oil sludge treatment, and air pollution management. It will also manage installation, operations, and maintenance of sewage treatment plants (STPs), water treatment plants (WTPs), and effluent treatment plants (ETPs), either independently or in collaboration with partners.
According to the company, this transition reflects Fermenta’s vision of combining scientific expertise with sustainable innovation. By empowering FESPL to focus entirely on environmental solutions, Fermenta aims to address critical challenges around waste, water, and pollution management, while contributing to long-term environmental resilience and social impact.
