Ester Industries’ joint venture with Loop Industries of Canada, Ester Loop Infinite Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (ELITe), has announced that its upcoming Infinite Loop™ manufacturing facility in Gujarat will supply products to Italy’s Taro Plast S.p.A. The facility, scheduled to begin operations by the end of 2027, will focus on producing chemically recycled polyester solutions for international markets.
ELITe will use Loop’s depolymerisation technology and Ester’s polymerisation expertise to convert polyester textile waste into high-purity Twist™ polyester. The material will then be supplied to Taro Plast for use in automotive and specialty polymer applications, with the company confirming that the Loop™ Dimethyl Terephthalate (DMT) meets high standards of purity and performance.
In addition, Loop Industries has formed a strategic alliance with South Korea’s Hyosung TNC to support global brands’ shift toward circular polyester. The partnership combines Loop’s depolymerisation technology with Hyosung TNC’s textile expertise, converting low-value textile waste into Twist™ polyester resin. Hyosung TNC will then produce performance yarns under its Regen™ portfolio, providing a circular solution for fashion, activewear, and other textile markets.
The Gujarat facility is planned to produce 70,000 tonnes of recycled DMT, 23,000 tonnes of recycled MEG, and 70,000 tonnes of recycled PET resin annually, with an investment of approximately ₹1,600 crore. There is also potential to expand production at the site by an additional 100,000 tonnes of rPET resin per year. The agreements with Taro Plast and Hyosung TNC highlight India’s growing role in the production of sustainable polyester materials for global markets.
