Food delivery giant Swiggy is gearing up to launch Toing, a new standalone app designed to cater to price-conscious consumers looking for affordable food options. Unlike its usual strategy of piloting new offerings in Bengaluru, Swiggy will debut the app in Pune, marking a shift in its test-market approach.
Why Pune?
Pune has a large student population and young workforce, making it a natural fit for budget-friendly services. According to industry sources, the city offers higher growth potential compared to Bengaluru, which is already a saturated market for food delivery. Swiggy is expected to limit Toing’s rollout to 4–5 regions within Pune in its initial phase.
What will Toing offer?
The app will primarily list eateries that provide affordable meals in the ₹100–₹150 range, targeting college students and freshers who wish to order in but have limited disposable income. The model builds on Swiggy’s existing ₹99 store within its main app but aims to expand the concept into a broader, independent platform.
Availability
The Toing app is already live on both the App Store and Google Play Store, signaling that Swiggy is preparing for a phased rollout.
