Coal India Limited has announced a key change in its senior management with the appointment of Shri Tushar Kumar as Executive Director (Renewables), effective September 15, 2025.
At 54, Kumar brings over 29 years of experience in the power sector, spanning thermal, wind, and solar power plants. He holds a postgraduate degree in Electrical Engineering along with an MBA in Finance.
Coal India highlighted that Kumar’s induction is aimed at strengthening its renewable energy portfolio as the company accelerates its diversification strategy beyond coal-based operations. His appointment places him at the executive director level, one tier below the board of directors.
This move is seen as part of Coal India’s broader push to align with India’s renewable energy targets while maintaining its position as a Maharatna company.
