Chelsea Football Club have been handed 74 charges by the Football Association (FA) for alleged breaches of agent regulations and third-party investment rules, spanning a period between 2009 and 2022.

The charges are understood to primarily cover the era under former owner Roman Abramovich, who oversaw the club’s transformation into one of Europe’s elite teams. According to the FA, the alleged breaches relate to dealings with agents and financial arrangements that contravened regulatory frameworks in place during that period.

In response, Chelsea issued a statement confirming their cooperation with the FA throughout the investigation. The club highlighted that many of the issues under scrutiny were self-reported after new ownership took charge in 2022.

The statement read: “We are pleased to confirm that our engagement with the FA concerning matters that were self-reported by the club is now reaching a conclusion. The club demonstrated unprecedented transparency during this process, including by giving total access to files and historical data.”
