Shares of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) jumped over 3% in early trades on September 11, following the company’s announcement regarding the acquisition of a secondhand Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC). As of 9:45 AM, the shares were trading 3.22% higher at Rs 214.70.
In an official communication under Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, SCI confirmed that it has taken physical delivery of the VLGC named “SHIVALIK”, with a capacity of 54,534 MT DWT and 47,058 GT. The Protocol of Delivery & Acceptance was signed at 1:30 PM IST on September 10, 2025.
This addition is expected to strengthen SCI’s gas transportation capabilities and enhance its operational fleet. Investors reacted positively to the news, pushing the stock higher in the market.
The delivery of “SHIVALIK” aligns with SCI’s strategic plan to expand its fleet and support its long-term growth in the shipping and logistics sector.
