Shree Refrigerations Limited, a company providing cooling solutions for the defence sector, has entered into a strategic partnership with Smardt Chillers Pte Ltd, a manufacturer of oil-free chillers for data center applications. The agreement was executed through SRL’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Trezor Technologies Pvt. Ltd., and focuses on introducing magnetic bearing chiller technology in India for mission-critical data centers.
The partnership allows SRL to expand its business beyond defence and enter the commercial cooling segment. The company expects this new vertical to contribute around 10–15 percent of its revenues over the next three years. Smardt Chillers, with more than 10,000 installations globally, produces oil-free magnetic bearing chillers that use magnetic bearings instead of oil, which reduces power consumption and maintenance requirements. These chillers are reported to be more energy-efficient than conventional oil-lubricated systems and provide lower power utilization efficiency (PUE), which is an important consideration for data centers.
SRL has manufactured, installed, and commissioned over 40 magnetic bearing chillers in India. The entry into the data center cooling market marks an expansion of SRL’s offerings to commercial applications. Through this partnership with Smardt, SRL aims to provide energy-efficient cooling solutions for India’s growing digital infrastructure, aligning with the country’s focus on sustainable energy use.
