Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has signed a partnership with CEA, a French research institution, to advance the development and industrial use of Physical AI solutions. Physical AI combines robotics, artificial intelligence, and intelligent systems, enabling machines to perceive, interpret, and interact with the physical world. The collaboration aims to support digital transformation and modernization of industrial processes.
The partnership will focus on creating systems for real-world applications, combining CEA’s research capabilities with TCS’ experience in technology services. The collaboration will target industrial use cases in manufacturing, logistics, and automation, providing solutions such as adaptable robots capable of performing multiple tasks, systems for safe human-robot interaction, and robots that can assist humans in social contexts.
CEA’s research in Physical AI includes projects such as brain-controlled exoskeletons for tetraplegic patients, AI for autonomous vehicles, haptic telepresence, and dexterous robotic handling. CEA also contributes to national and European programs in AI-powered robotics, including the Organic Robotics program in France.
The partnership will use TCS’ Pace PortTM Paris research and innovation center to support development and deployment. The center connects researchers, startups, and companies to advance next-generation AI and robotics solutions.
TCS has been present in France since 1992, serving 18 CAC40 companies and operating four delivery centers in Paris-Suresnes, Lille, Poitiers, and Toulouse. This partnership reflects TCS’ focus on emerging technologies such as AI, industrial IoT, and autonomous systems, with a goal to provide industrial-scale solutions in collaboration with research institutions.
