At least four people were killed in a suspected terror attack at Ramot Junction in Jerusalem on Monday, when two gunmen opened fire inside a bus, according to Israel’s national emergency service, Magen David Adom (MDA).

The ambulance service confirmed that five others remain in serious condition and were rushed to nearby hospitals, while several passengers sustained minor injuries.

Israeli police said that a security officer and a civilian at the scene returned fire, managing to neutralize the attackers.

Local media reports stated that the shooters used an improvised Carl Gustav submachine gun, a weapon frequently manufactured in illegal workshops in the West Bank and linked to previous Palestinian militant assaults.

The attack has further heightened tensions in Jerusalem, as security forces have stepped up patrols and launched investigations into the network behind the shooters.
