Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana is set for a surprise switch to Turkish side Trabzonspor, but the deal comes with a significant clause – or rather, the lack of one. The Cameroonian shot-stopper will join the Süper Lig club on a straight loan until June 2026, with no buy option or loan fee included in the agreement.
The deal, confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, was finalized after both clubs reached an understanding earlier this week. Onana has now accepted the move and signed off on the contract, ensuring a temporary exit from Old Trafford after just two seasons.
The absence of a buy option is notable, as it signals Manchester United’s intention to keep long-term control over the 28-year-old goalkeeper. Instead, the move appears to be structured as a short-term solution for both parties: Trabzonspor gain an experienced and high-profile keeper for the upcoming season, while United can reassess Onana’s future once he returns in 2026.
