SpiceJet on Thursday announced that it has signed an interline agreement with Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, to strengthen international travel links and enhance connectivity. The partnership will give SpiceJet passengers seamless access to Gulf Air’s wide network across the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Central Asia via Bahrain. In return, Gulf Air customers will benefit from greater connectivity to India through SpiceJet’s domestic network.
Details of the partnership
The interline agreement will allow passengers to book connecting flights across the two airlines under a single itinerary, simplifying travel and baggage transfers. Ticket sales under the new arrangement are expected to begin early next year.
Gulf Air currently operates direct flights to eight Indian cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Goa, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. Through SpiceJet’s network, passengers will be able to connect to several additional destinations across India.
Leadership remarks
Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of SpiceJet, called the agreement “an important milestone” in expanding the airline’s global reach. He said the tie-up would make travel more convenient, affordable and accessible for both leisure and business travellers.
Jeffrey Goh, Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Air Group, said the partnership enhances travel options for passengers and reflects the shared commitment of both carriers to drive connectivity and cultural exchange. With Bahrain’s strategic position as a hub, the collaboration is expected to provide convenient access to diverse international and domestic destinations.
Strategic importance
The deal underscores SpiceJet’s strategy of forging global partnerships to expand its international footprint while leveraging its domestic reach. For Gulf Air, the interline agreement enhances access to India, one of its most important markets, while providing seamless travel options for passengers across continents.
