In a sensational move, German midfielder İlkay Gündoğan is set to join Turkish giants Galatasaray on a two-year deal, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed. The 33-year-old playmaker, who played a pivotal role in Manchester City’s historic treble-winning campaign in 2022/23, will now continue his career in Istanbul.
According to Romano, Gündoğan received authorization from Manchester City to travel and complete his switch, with the deal finalized until June 2027. The transfer comes as a free move, marking the end of an illustrious spell with Pep Guardiola’s side.
Gündoğan’s arrival is a major coup for Galatasaray, who continue to strengthen their squad with high-profile signings as they aim to dominate domestically and make an impact in European competitions. Known for his vision, passing accuracy, and ability to score decisive goals, the midfielder brings vast experience from both the Premier League and Champions League.
