Sonia Gandhi is trending on X (formerly Twitter) after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emotional remarks condemning the Congress-RJD alliance for using derogatory language against his late mother during a rally in Bihar. While PM Modi broke down, saying, “Meri maa ko galiyaan di gai,” users on social media quickly shifted the debate toward the language used by BJP leaders in the past.

Netizens began pointing out that Sonia Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, and other Congress leaders had often been at the receiving end of abusive references by BJP members. Old instances such as Sonia Gandhi being called “Jersey Cow” and “Congress ki Vidhwa,” and remarks directed at leaders like Renuka Chaudhary and Mamata Banerjee resurfaced on X.

The conversation has turned into a heated debate, with users questioning why the ruling party condemns derogatory remarks when targeted at Modi’s family but has remained silent when its leaders used similar language against opposition women leaders.

This clash of narratives has put Sonia Gandhi in the spotlight on X today, as the platform debates political hypocrisy, selective outrage, and the limits of political discourse in India.
