Prime Minister Narendra Modi broke down in tears while addressing a gathering today, condemning derogatory remarks made against his late mother during a Congress-RJD event in Bihar. “Meri maa ko galiyaan di gai… what was her fault that she was subjected to vulgar abuses?” the Prime Minister said emotionally, accusing the opposition of crossing all limits of decency in politics.

The incident occurred against the backdrop of the Voter Rights March in Darbhanga, where opposition leaders allegedly used inappropriate language targeting PM Modi’s mother. Expressing his anguish, the Prime Minister said his mother had nothing to do with politics and questioned why she was dragged into political discourse.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi virtually launched the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited, a scheme aimed at providing affordable credit to rural women entrepreneurs. He also transferred ₹105 crore to the institution’s bank account to support women-led businesses. Modi stressed that initiatives like Lakhpati Didi, Drone Didi, and Bank Sakhi are designed to empower women and strengthen grassroots economic growth.

In his closing remarks, the Prime Minister underlined that India’s progress depends on women’s empowerment, while strongly reprimanding the opposition for what he described as “politics of personal abuse.”
