Eco Recycling Limited (Ecoreco), a pioneer in e-waste management, has announced its vision to play a pivotal role in addressing India’s growing demand for precious and rare earth metals through sustainable recovery. In a filing to the BSE on 1 September 2025, the company highlighted how its expanded recycling facilities will contribute to the country’s critical mineral supply chain at a time when demand is surging due to rapid growth in high-tech industries, renewable energy, and electric vehicles.
The company noted that the government’s emphasis on the Critical Mineral Mission and the promotion of recycling have created an enabling environment for sustainable initiatives. Ecoreco’s infrastructure, which includes an enhanced e-waste recycling capacity of 25,200 MTPA and lithium-ion battery recycling of 6,000 MTPA, is positioned to recover essential minerals while reducing the nation’s reliance on imports.
Ecoreco emphasised three key areas where it plans to contribute. First, enhancing domestic supply by extracting critical minerals from waste streams to strengthen supply chain resilience. Second, promoting sustainable practices by recovering rare earth elements and other precious metals from electronic waste and lithium-ion batteries, which will minimise waste and environmental impacts associated with conventional mining and processing. Third, supporting high-tech industries, including renewable energy, electronics, and electric vehicles, by ensuring a stable mineral supply, thereby enabling sectoral growth and boosting India’s foreign exchange reserves through exports.
B K Soni, Chairman and Managing Director of Ecoreco, stated that the company’s efforts are aligned with the government’s vision for a sustainable and self-reliant India. He added that Ecoreco looks forward to collaborating with stakeholders to strengthen the country’s critical mineral ecosystem and meet the growing requirements of advanced industries.
