Borussia Dortmund have officially completed the signing of midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea in a deal worth £25 million, including a significant sell-on clause. The 20-year-old has penned a five-year contract that will keep him at Signal Iduna Park until June 2030.

The England U21 international, who joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in 2022, struggled to establish himself as a regular at Stamford Bridge, largely due to injuries and fierce competition for places in the midfield. Despite flashes of his immense potential, Chukwuemeka found consistent minutes hard to come by in West London.

Dortmund, renowned for nurturing young talent, see the midfielder as a key part of their long-term project. The Bundesliga giants have developed a reputation for providing opportunities to rising stars, with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Jadon Sancho, and Ousmane Dembélé flourishing in Germany before making big-money moves.

Chelsea, meanwhile, benefit from a healthy transfer fee and have inserted a heavy sell-on clause, ensuring they remain financially tied to Chukwuemeka’s future success. The deal is part of the club’s ongoing squad reshaping under manager Enzo Maresca.
