Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has taken a significant step to strengthen its presence in India’s midscale hospitality segment by acquiring majority stakes in two prominent hotel operators, ANK Hotels Private Limited and Pride Hospitality Private Limited. The company has announced that it will acquire around 51% equity stake in ANK Hotels for up to ₹110 crore and a similar stake in Pride Hospitality for up to ₹94 crore.
ANK Hotels operates 111 midscale hotels under The Clarks Hotels & Resorts brand, with 67 currently in operation, including popular names like Clarks Inn, Clarks Inn Suites, and Clarks Inn Premier. The company reported a turnover of ₹14.32 crore in FY 2024-25 and has a presence in both India and Sri Lanka.
Pride Hospitality manages 24 midscale hotels, with 13 operational, also under The Clarks Hotels & Resorts umbrella, featuring brands like Clarks Safari, Clarks Collection, and Clarks Resort. It recorded a turnover of ₹18.94 crore in FY 2024-25 and operates solely in India.
IHCL’s acquisition aligns with its asset-light growth strategy, aiming to deepen geographical penetration across India’s diverse market landscape. These additions are expected to significantly expand IHCL’s portfolio, bringing the total to over 135 hotels under The Clarks Hotels & Resorts banner.
Alongside these acquisitions, IHCL has entered into a distribution and marketing agreement with Brij Hospitality Private Limited, which operates 19 hotels under the Brij brand across India.
The transactions are anticipated to complete by November 15, 2025, and involve cash consideration. Neither acquisition involves related party transactions, and there are no promoter interests in the acquired companies.
This strategic move is expected to strengthen IHCL’s foothold in the midscale hotel segment, leveraging established brands to enhance customer reach and market presence across India.
