Fans of The Legend of Vox Machina are still reeling from the explosive Season 3 finale—and for good reason. After an intense ride filled with dragon-slaying, near-death moments, and emotional reunions, the ragtag adventuring crew left viewers with more questions than answers. Now, with Season 4 officially on the horizon, speculation is running wild. Here’s everything we know (and a few things we’re guessing) about what’s next for the beloved gang from Exandria.
Release Date Speculation: When Will Season 4 Hit Screens?
Amazon Prime Video gave fans an early treat by confirming Vox Machina Season 4 back in October 2024—just before Season 3 wrapped up. But if you’re wondering when exactly the new season will drop, the answer is… still up in the air.
Looking at the show’s track record: Season 1 dropped in January 2022, followed quickly by Season 2 in January 2023. Then came a longer gap—Season 3 arrived in October 2024, likely slowed down by the Hollywood strikes. That said, with production now seemingly back on track, a late 2025 or early-to-mid 2026 release feels like a reasonable bet.
Cast: Who’s Returning for Season 4?

-
Taliesin Jaffe as Percy, our troubled but brilliant gunslinger

Ashley Johnson as Pike, the ever-hopeful gnome cleric

-
Travis Willingham as Grog, the lovable (and deadly) goliath
-
Sam Riegel as Scanlan, the irreverent bard—plus maybe a second role
-
Matthew Mercer doing what he does best: voicing just about everyone else, including Trinket
Plot Details: What’s Next for Vox Machina?
Spoilers ahead if you haven’t finished Season 3!
Season 3 wrapped with Vox Machina defeating the Chroma Conclave—a massive win—but not without serious costs. Percy was brought back from the brink, Vax made a literal deal with death, and the group seemed more fractured than ever. Then came that ominous post-credits stinger: a circle of cultists, a strange skull crowned with a tiara, and the chilling arrival of what fans suspect is none other than The Whispered One—a nod to the infamous D&D villain Vecna.
Season 4 is expected to jump straight into this dark final arc, following the Critical Role campaign’s showdown with the necromantic cult known as the Remnants. If the show stays close to the source material, we’re in for a globetrotting adventure—think otherworldly planes, underwater volcanoes, and undead cities—culminating in a fight for the fate of Exandria.
Interestingly, the original campaign had a lengthy arc featuring Taryon before the Whispered One’s arrival. It’s unclear if the show will condense or skip that portion, but Taryon’s tease suggests at least part of his storyline will weave in, bringing some much-needed comic relief and steampunk flair with his loyal robot, Doty.
