Power Grid Corporation of India has received board approval to raise up to Rs 5,000 crore through a private placement of taxable bonds. The decision was taken during the Committee of Directors for Bonds meeting held on August 5, 2025.
As per the exchange filing, this will be the 82nd series under the POWERGRID Bonds initiative for FY2025-26. The issue consists of a base size of Rs 1,000 crore with a green shoe option of Rs 4,000 crore, totaling Rs 5,000 crore.
The bonds are unsecured, non-convertible, non-cumulative, and redeemable. They will carry annual interest payments and mature at par at the end of 10 years. The bonds are proposed to be listed on both BSE and NSE, and the final coupon rate will be decided post bidding via the Electronic Book Provider (EBP) platform.
There are no special rights, delays in past payments, or asset-based charges associated with these bonds. The company stated there has been no default or delay in prior payments either.
