Newcastle United have started searching for backup options of Benjamin Sesko who has also been approached by Manchester United. Eddie Howe’s side feel Sesko would prefer a move to Man United instead of them despite a Champions League football next season. As reported by Fabrizio Romano, they are also looking at Yoane Wissa of Brentford as a backup options if Sesko rejects. Wissa who has already told the club that he wants to leave, is not joining the training sessions. As Newcastle waiting for Sesko’s decision, they are not leaving Wissa’s talks behind.
Newcastle United have started exploring alternative targets as they wait for Benjamin Sesko’s decision, with Manchester United also pushing hard for the RB Leipzig striker.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Eddie Howe’s side fear Sesko could favour a move to Old Trafford over St. James’ Park despite Newcastle offering Champions League football next season.
In response, the Magpies have identified Brentford forward Yoane Wissa as a backup option. The experienced striker has reportedly informed the Bees of his desire to leave and has not been attending training sessions.
Newcastle remain hopeful of convincing Sesko but are keeping negotiations for Wissa alive in case the Slovenian international opts for Manchester United.
