After RCB decided to bat first, the openers Finch and Devdutt gave a steady start to the team. KKR was successful in keeping the run rate stable and not too high which gives credit to the bowlers. After Finch was dropped by Nagarkoti off a delivery by Russel, it looked like danger for KKR. Soon after Devdutt was sent back as he was bowled out by Russel. Finch returned quickly as well.

Sharjah being a ground which so far has had totals above 200 on its pitch looked much slower today which made it difficult for the batsman to score quick runs. What looked like KKR could restrict RCB to a small total, AB de Villiers came in cracking and scored the big runs. It took him just 23 balls to reach 50 runs. After a good middle order partnership between Kohli and de Villiers helped the team reach a total of 194 after a slow start.
