The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (GE Shipping) has announced the acquisition of a Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier, further strengthening its fleet. The deal, finalized on July 25, 2025, involves a vessel with a deadweight tonnage (DWT) of approximately 81,843. Built in 2015, the ship is expected to join GE Shipping’s operations by the third quarter of FY26.
This acquisition aligns with the company’s strategy to expand and modernize its fleet. Notably, the purchase will be fully funded through internal accruals, underscoring GE Shipping’s strong financial position and self-sufficiency.
Currently, the company operates a fleet of 38 vessels, which includes 26 tankers (comprising 5 crude oil carriers, 17 product tankers, and 4 LPG carriers) and 12 dry bulk carriers. The total capacity of the fleet stands at around 3.04 million DWT, with capacity utilization near 100%, indicating high operational efficiency and strong demand across its services.
Following the delivery of the newly contracted vessel, GE Shipping’s total fleet size will rise to 39 ships, increasing the total capacity to approximately 3.13 million DWT.
