Sunderland are making bold moves in the summer transfer window as they look to strengthen their midfield options ahead of the new season. According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Championship side is actively working on a deal for former Arsenal star Granit Xhaka, currently at Bayer Leverkusen.

The Swiss international, known for his leadership and passing range, has emerged as a top target for Sunderland. But the club isn’t stopping there. Romano also revealed that Sunderland made a direct approach on Wednesday to the agent of Napoli midfielder Frank Zambo Anguissa, signaling serious intent to bring top-tier experience to the Stadium of Light.

Anguissa, who has been a key figure in Napoli’s midfield since his arrival, is also in discussions over a potential contract extension with the Serie A club. Napoli have already tabled a new deal for the Cameroonian international, confident of securing his signature until 2028. The club remains hopeful of receiving the green light soon to finalize the agreement.
