BASF India Limited reported a steep decline in net profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2025, as rising expenses offset performance. The company posted a net profit of ₹27.01 crore, down 83% year-on-year from ₹1,61.43 crore in Q4 FY24.
Revenue from operations fell to ₹3,286.7 crore in Q4 FY25 from ₹3,328.1 crore a year earlier, registering a slight decline of about 1.2%. Including other income, total income came in at ₹3,306.6 crore, down from ₹3,384.6 crore YoY.
Despite steady topline numbers, higher expenses weighed heavily on earnings. Total expenses for the quarter rose to ₹3,291.6 crore compared to ₹3,165.3 crore in Q4 FY24, driven primarily by:
-
Cost of materials consumed: ₹1,254.2 crore
-
Purchase of stock-in-trade: ₹2,214.9 crore
-
Other expenses: ₹314.1 crore
Profit before tax came in at ₹40.52 crore, significantly lower than ₹219.3 crore in the year-ago period.
Full-year snapshot (FY25 vs FY24):
-
Revenue from operations: ₹15,149.5 crore vs ₹13,632.4 crore (up 11.1%)
-

-
Total income: ₹15,339.5 crore vs ₹13,843.2 crore

While full-year revenue showed healthy growth, rising costs and margin pressures in Q4 impacted overall profitability for BASF India.
