BSF constable Purnam Kumar Shaw, who had been in the custody of Pakistan Rangers since April 23, 2025, was repatriated to India on Wednesday morning. The handover occurred around 10:30 AM at the Joint Check Post in Attari, Amritsar, and was carried out peacefully following established cross-border protocols, according to a BSF statement.
Shaw, who had accidentally crossed the border last month, was returned to Indian authorities by the Pakistan Rangers after weeks of detention. The Border Security Force confirmed that the exchange was conducted in a coordinated and peaceful manner at the Wagah-Attari border.
Following his return, Shaw is currently being debriefed by Indian security officials. No confrontation or dispute was reported during the repatriation process.
The BSF expressed satisfaction over the peaceful resolution of the incident, reaffirming the importance of maintaining structured mechanisms for such cross-border engagements.
