Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly delivered a stern message to Pakistan and the global community following India’s successful military retaliation under Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians. As per Republic India, PM Modi addressed the Armed Forces, stating, “Agar Pakistan goli chalaye, toh aap gola chalayo” (If Pakistan fires bullets, you fire shells).

Operation Sindoor: Strategic Objectives Achieved

Operation Sindoor, which began on May 7, targeted nine Pakistani and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) locations believed to be operating as terrorist hubs. According to Republic India:

  • Military Objective: Terror camps in Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Muzaffarabad were “completely destroyed”. PM Modi reportedly said, “Mitti me mila denge… aur mila diya.”

  • Political Objective: India linked the Indus Waters Treaty to cross-border terrorism, asserting it will be put in abeyance until Pakistan ends terror support.

  • Psychological Objective: India’s cross-border strikes sent a strong message of strategic dominance, with PM Modi affirming, “Ghus ke maarenge… we are very successful.”

India’s Position on Kashmir and PoK

According to Republic India, PM Modi told U.S. Vice President JD Vance that India’s position on Kashmir is clear, and PoK must be returned. “We don’t want anyone to mediate,” he said, adding that India was open to dialogue only if Pakistan hands over terrorists.

Ceasefire Agreement and Trump’s Announcement

On May 10, a ceasefire was agreed upon following a call between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan. Notably, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced the ceasefire on social media before official statements from either country, congratulating both sides for showing “strength and intelligence”.

India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed that both sides had agreed to cease all military actions on land, air, and sea from 5 PM IST. Another DGMO-level meeting is scheduled for May 12 at noon.

Violations Despite Ceasefire

Despite the ceasefire, fresh violations were reported on Saturday night in Srinagar, Nagrota, Udhampur, Jammu city, and border districts in Punjab and Rajasthan.

Explosions were heard, red alerts were issued, and air defence systems were activated to neutralize drone intrusions. Blackouts were enforced in Jaisalmer, Barmer, Pathankot, and Ferozepur as a precaution.

As tensions remain high, India has urged Pakistan to act responsibly and adhere to the understanding reached—warning that further violations will be met with strong responses.
