In a special briefing held Saturday night, hours after Pakistan violated the ceasefire agreement, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri strongly condemned Islamabad’s actions and issued a stern message urging restraint.

“We urge Pakistan to take urgent steps to stop these violations. We take very, very serious notice of these violations,” Misri continued, addressing the media following multiple reports of cross-border shelling and drone activity in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan, despite a ceasefire agreement that came into effect at 5 PM IST.

Misri further added, “We request Pakistan to take a step back and understand the situation,” emphasizing that India remains committed to de-escalation, but “will not hesitate to defend its citizens and territory.”
Earlier in the day, multiple explosions were reported across Srinagar, including Lal Chowk and BB Cantt area. There were also confirmed ceasefire violations at RS Pura, Akhnoor, Bhimber, and Chamb sectors along the Line of Control, with heavy mortar shelling reported. A complete blackout was also enforced in several districts including Barmer, Jaisalmer, Moga, and parts of J&K.
The Ministry of Defence has placed all border units on high alert, while air defence units remain active across affected sectors. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reiterated India’s right to respond firmly and proportionately to any breach of sovereignty.
