In a major revelation, the Indian Ministry of Defence has confirmed that Pakistan attempted to strike a wide array of Indian military installations on the night of May 7–8, 2025. The targets included 16 cities and defence hubs across Northern and Western India—namely Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj.

The Pakistani offensive involved the use of drones and missiles aimed at key Indian Air Force and Army establishments. However, the attack was successfully thwarted by India’s Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems, which neutralised the threats before they could inflict any damage.

The Defence Ministry noted that debris from these intercepted threats has been recovered from multiple locations, clearly establishing the attempted attack by Pakistan.

This comes amid heightened military tensions following India’s precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

The situation along the Line of Control remains volatile, with India reiterating its non-escalatory stance, while also affirming its readiness to respond firmly to further provocations.
