Amritsar district administration has issued an urgent advisory, urging citizens to remain calm and indoors, as reported by ANI.

“Taking utmost caution, Amritsar district administration has again started the blackout process. Please stay at home, do not panic and do not gather outside your houses; keep the outside lights switched off,” said the Amritsar DPRO in an official statement late Wednesday night.

The announcement came amid a surge of online reports claiming missile-like objects were seen in the sky, and suggesting surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) were launched from the vicinity of Amritsar Airport or surrounding defence zones. These claims have not yet been confirmed by any central defence authority.

These claims quickly gained traction, especially after earlier reports of sirens being heard in Sialkot, Pakistan — just across the international border from Jammu.
