Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced the launch of an upgraded version of its automation suite, TCS MasterCraft™, now enhanced with GenAI and Agentic AI capabilities. This advanced version promises to reduce modernization costs by over 70% and deliver results twice as fast as conventional approaches, the company said in a press release on May 6.

The GenAI-powered MasterCraft helps organizations automate the complex process of modernizing legacy applications, improving efficiency by extracting business logic faster and more accurately. According to TCS, one of North America’s largest banks has already utilized the tool to transform its mainframe systems, achieving 3X faster delivery and 2X productivity savings.

TCS is also using the platform to migrate over 50 million lines of COBOL code to Java for a global financial major. These efforts aim to build centralized, reusable application knowledge bases, avoiding the risk of creating obsolete systems through traditional conversions.

Zachariah Chirayil, Practice Director at Everest Group, said the new TCS MasterCraft addresses the rising enterprise need to move away from monolithic architecture and integrate with modern cloud platforms.

In FY25 Q4 alone, TCS engaged in 580 AI-centric business projects and has developed over 150 industry-specific Agentic AI solutions for domains like finance, supply chain, and accounting.

The company stated this launch aligns with its long-term AI investment roadmap and its mission to create maintainable, resilient, and scalable enterprise systems using cutting-edge technology.
