Coal India Limited (CIL) and U.P. Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL) have signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the development of a 500 megawatt (MW) solar power project in Uttar Pradesh. The agreement was signed in Lucknow as part of the organizations’ efforts to expand renewable energy infrastructure in the state.

The proposed solar project is aligned with the green energy initiatives of Coal India Ltd and aims to contribute to meeting Uttar Pradesh’s growing electricity demand and enhancing its energy security. The MoU outlines the initial intent for collaboration and includes a clause for exploring additional joint opportunities that may arise in the future, subject to mutual agreement.

The partnership indicates a move towards cleaner energy alternatives, in line with national objectives for renewable energy capacity expansion.
