Billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani’s representatives have reportedly engaged with officials from former US President Donald Trump’s administration to push for the dismissal of criminal charges linked to a foreign bribery investigation, according to a Bloomberg News report.
The discussions, which began in early 2025, have gained momentum in recent weeks, with sources indicating a potential resolution could be reached within a month if the current pace continues.
US authorities had filed charges in November 2024 against Gautam Adani and his nephew Sagar Adani, alleging that the two were involved in paying bribes to secure Indian power supply contracts. The charges also include allegations of misleading US investors during a $750 million bond offering by Adani Green Energy, particularly around anti-bribery compliance disclosures.
According to the report, Adani’s legal team is arguing that the prosecution does not align with the Trump administration’s enforcement priorities and should therefore be reconsidered.
While the discussions continue behind closed doors, representatives from the Adani Group, the US Department of Justice, and the White House have all declined to comment on the ongoing matter.
