Indian stock exchanges will remain closed on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in observance of Maharashtra Day, which marks the formation of the state of Maharashtra. As per the official holiday calendar released by stock exchanges, no trading activity will take place on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE across all segments, including:

  • Equity

  • Equity Derivatives

  • Currency Derivatives

  • Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB)

However, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will observe a partial trading holiday. The morning session (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) will remain suspended, while trading will resume in the evening session (5:00 pm to 11:30 pm). This allows traders to continue participating in the commodities market, including gold, silver, crude oil, and agricultural products.

The Maharashtra Day holiday is part of the 14 scheduled trading holidays for Indian markets in 2025. Market participants are advised to plan their trades, settlement obligations, and portfolio actions in advance to avoid disruption.

Normal trading activity will resume on Friday, May 2, 2025.
