In the wake of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists, the Indian Railways has announced the operation of a second unreserved special train from Shri Vaishno Devi Katra to New Delhi to assist stranded visitors in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to railway officials, the train (04625) was initially scheduled to depart at 10:50 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, but was rescheduled to 1:30 p.m. following discussions with local authorities. The special service will stop at Udhampur, Jammu, Pathankot, Jalandhar, Ambala, Kurukshetra, and Panipat before terminating at New Delhi Railway Station.

“Helpdesks have been set up at Katra and Jammu railway stations, and a crowd management room with live CCTV feeds has been activated in Jammu,” said Dilip Kumar, Executive Director, Information & Publicity, Ministry of Railways. He also confirmed that 235 tourists have already been accommodated across various services.
