Yuvraj Singh’s protégé Abhishek Sharma lights up IPL 2025 with stunning 141, powers SRH to historic chase

It was a proud mentor moment for Yuvraj Singh on Saturday night as his protégé, Abhishek Sharma, unleashed a sensational 141 off just 63 balls against Punjab Kings – the highest individual score by an Indian in IPL history. The innings helped Sunrisers Hyderabad chase down 246, pulling off the second highest run-chase ever in the tournament.

Abhishek’s knock was a perfect blend of power and poise – 13 fours, 10 sixes, and calmness even when on the brink of a century. He brought up his century in just 40 balls, and crossed 140 with pure dominance.

The chase was built on a 171-run opening partnership with Travis Head (66 off 37), and Abhishek held firm till the end as SRH reached 247/2 in just 18.3 overs.

Yuvraj Singh, who has mentored Abhishek since his junior days, took to X (Twitter) after the knock, calling it a moment of maturity and brilliance:
“Wah Sharma ji ke bete! 98 pe single, phir 99 pe single! Itni maturity ha am nahi ho rahi 🤪! Great knock @IamAbhiSharma4 well played @TravisHead24 – these openers are a treat to watch! #SRHvsPBKS”

For a team that had lost 4 games in a row, this win breathes new life into their campaign – and for Abhishek, this could be the defining moment of his IPL career.
