On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, three stocks—Birlasoft (BSOFT), Hindustan Copper (HINDCOPPER), and Manappuram Finance (MANAPPURAM)—have been placed under the Futures and Options (F&O) ban list by the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

These securities were banned from F&O trading as they crossed 95% of the market-wide position limit (MWPL), triggering regulatory thresholds set by the exchange. During the ban period, no fresh positions are allowed in these contracts. However, traders can square off their existing positions if necessary.

The ban is lifted only when the open interest across exchanges falls below 80% of the MWPL, as per NSE norms. Meanwhile, trading in these stocks continues as usual in the cash market.

Such F&O bans are implemented by exchanges to prevent excessive speculation and maintain orderly trading in the derivatives segment.
