Indian equity markets ended the trading session on a weak note, with the Nifty 50 slipping below the 22,200 level. The broader market faced significant selling pressure, resulting in a sharp decline. The Sensex closed at 73,137.90, down 2,226.79 points or 2.95%, while the Nifty 50 settled at 22,161.60, reflecting a drop of 742.85 points or 3.24%.

Despite the widespread downturn across sectors, a handful of stocks within the Nifty 50 index managed to post gains, offering some resilience in an otherwise challenging market environment.

Among the notable performers, Hindustan Unilever emerged as a top gainer. The stock closed at ₹2250.0, registering a percentage increase of 0.2%, equivalent to a rise of ₹5.45. This uptick provided a silver lining for investors amidst an otherwise lackluster day for the markets.

Another standout was Eternal, which ended the day at ₹211.0. The stock saw a similar percentage gain of 0.2%, translating to an increase of ₹0.47. Though the gains were marginal, Eternal’s performance stood out in a session dominated by bearish sentiment.
