Mohammed Siraj delivered a fiery spell in the Powerplay, removing both openers—Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma—as Gujarat Titans gained early control against Sunrisers Hyderabad in match 19 of IPL 2025. His second wicket also marked a special milestone—Siraj completed 100 wickets in his IPL career.
After Gujarat Titans opted to bowl first, Siraj struck in his very first over. He dismissed Travis Head for 8 (5), caught by Sai Sudharsan at mid-wicket. Just a few overs later, he claimed the wicket of Abhishek Sharma for 18 (16), with Rahul Tewatia taking a simple catch at mid-on. Both dismissals came off deliveries bowled around middle and leg, as Siraj exploited the slow surface smartly.
At the end of six overs, Sunrisers Hyderabad were 45 for 2, with Ishan Kishan unbeaten on 15 and Nitish Kumar Reddy on 2. Siraj’s figures read an impressive 3-0-14-2 at an economy of 4.67. The dry and sluggish pitch at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is proving to be tricky, as the Sunrisers’ top order failed to capitalise yet again.
With Siraj firing and Gujarat’s bowlers exploiting the conditions, it’s an uphill battle for SRH unless a middle-order revival unfolds.
