Real Madrid’s goalkeeper Andriy Lunin who played the whole Real Soceidad’s game was said to be injured and still managed to be on the pitch. As there are shortage of keepers for Madrid, Lunin had to play for the game despite an injury. However, Real Madrid are expecting their first-choice keeper Thibaut Courtois to join the side in the Arsenal’s game in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
Real Madrid’s goalkeeping crisis took a dramatic turn on the weekend as Andriy Lunin featured in the full 90 minutes against Real Sociedad despite carrying an injury. With options limited due to the absence of both Thibaut Courtois and Kepa Arrizabalaga, Lunin was forced to push through the pain and guard the goal for Los Blancos in a narrow 1-0 victory.
The Ukrainian goalkeeper’s commitment did not go unnoticed, as he delivered a composed performance under tough circumstances. Reports suggest Lunin was not fully fit but still made himself available due to the club’s desperate need for a shot-stopper.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side has been navigating the season without their first-choice keeper, Courtois, who has been sidelined since the start of the campaign due to an ACL injury. However, there’s positive news for Madrid fans as Courtois is expected to return to the squad for the crucial UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash against Arsenal.
