Nokia and Bharti Airtel are strengthening their collaboration to enhance Airtel’s 4G and 5G network capabilities. This partnership includes the deployment of Nokia’s Packet Core appliance-based solutions and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technology, designed to improve connectivity and deliver a seamless experience for Airtel’s expanding customer base. The integration of 5G and 4G technologies into a single set of servers will optimize network performance, enabling faster service deployment and reducing operational costs.

Airtel will leverage Nokia’s automation framework to introduce zero-touch service launches and streamline lifecycle management for core network functions. This will significantly enhance Airtel’s ability to roll out new services efficiently while maintaining cost-effectiveness. By adopting Nokia’s converged Packet Core solution, Airtel is advancing towards 5G standalone (SA) readiness, simplifying its network architecture to meet increasing data demands while optimizing hardware usage and reducing costs.

The multi-year agreement spans most of Airtel’s service regions across India, incorporating network automation and next-generation artificial intelligence (GenAI) for service orchestration and assurance. Nokia’s technology offers a pre-integrated and modular server-based configuration, providing flexibility to support various business and operational deployment models. This enables Airtel to attract new customers and explore additional revenue streams through improved network efficiency.

With Nokia’s Packet Core solution for Fixed Wireless Access, Airtel will enhance home broadband and enterprise application services, ensuring high-speed connectivity and superior bandwidth capacity. Nokia already has a strong presence in Airtel’s core network, supplying key technologies such as VoLTE, HSS, HLR, UDM, VoNR, and automated Management & Orchestration (MANO).
