Jake Fraser-McGurk produced a moment of brilliance in the field to dismiss Aniket Verma, as Delhi Capitals tightened their grip on the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Verma, who was batting fluently, tried to clear deep midwicket but found Fraser-McGurk, who sprinted to his right and timed his jump to perfection. With both feet off the ground, he grabbed the ball cleanly with both hands, ensuring Kuldeep Yadav picked up his third wicket.

The incredible effort from Fraser-McGurk not only sent Verma back but also left SRH in deep trouble at 149/8 after 16 overs.

Aniket Verma’s counter-attacking innings

Before his dismissal, Aniket Verma played a sensational knock, smashing 74 off 41 balls at a strike rate of 180.48. His innings included five fours and six massive sixes, as he single-handedly kept SRH’s hopes alive.

Coming in early after Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Sharma, and Travis Head fell cheaply, Verma took charge alongside Heinrich Klaasen. Despite losing partners at the other end, he continued to attack, reaching his maiden IPL fifty in 34 balls. His fearless approach helped SRH recover from a precarious position, giving them a fighting chance.

Kuldeep Yadav shines with the ball

While Verma’s knock was the highlight of SRH’s innings, Kuldeep Yadav’s brilliance with the ball turned the tide in DC’s favor. The left-arm spinner finished with exceptional figures of 3/22 in four overs, playing a crucial role in restricting Hyderabad’s scoring rate.

With Wiaan Mulder and Harshal Patel now at the crease, SRH will look to add as many runs as possible in the last four overs. However, with eight wickets down, the pressure is firmly on the lower order to push them towards a competitive total.
