In the third match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have won the toss and opted to field first against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The decision to bowl first comes as CSK, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, look to make the most of their home conditions and assess the pitch before setting out with the bat.
Speaking at the toss, CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad said, “We are bowling first. Playing on this pitch for the first time, so don’t really know how it will play. So we just want to adapt and chase accordingly. Looks a good wicket to bat. Prep has been good.”
Mumbai Indians’ stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav expressed confidence despite being put into bat first, stating, “We had a lovely camp back home, we were here 2-3 days before. Both are unbelievable franchises in terms of achievements. I am sure it will be a good game.”
Chennai have named Noor Ahmad, Ben Ellis, Rachin Ravindra and Sam Curran as their overseas players for the match. MI will be aiming to break their streak of slow starts in IPL seasons, especially at a venue where they have traditionally found it tough.
The highly anticipated clash brings together two of the most successful franchises in IPL history, and fans can expect a thrilling contest as the tournament picks up pace.
