The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 started with a flurry of record-breaking performances, setting new benchmarks in women’s T20 cricket. The tournament that began on 14th February saw record-breaking performances from the very first match of the tournament.

Highest successful run chase in WPL history

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) made a stunning start to their campaign by chasing down a massive 202-run target, the highest successful chase in WPL history. This was only the second time a team has successfully chased a 200-plus target in Women’s T20s, with West Indies’ 213-run chase against Australia in 2023 still standing as the highest.

Highest aggregate in a WPL match

The match between Gujarat Giants (GG) and RCB-W in Vadodara saw a combined total of 403 runs, making it the highest aggregate in a WPL game. This surpassed the previous record of 391 runs, which was also set by these two teams in 2023, highlighting their history of high-scoring encounters.

Highest score by a No. 9 batter in WPL

Sophie Ecclestone played a crucial knock for GG, scoring 33 runs while batting at No. 9. This became the highest individual score by a batter batting at No. 9 or lower in WPL history. This knock of hers helped the team tie the match and further play a super-over.

First-ever Super Over in WPL history

For the first time in WPL history, a match was decided by a Super Over as RCB and UP Warriorz (UPW) played out a thrilling tie. UPW held their nerve in the decider, securing a historic win by four runs in the Super Over. UPW scored 8 runs in the super over and restricted their opponents to just 4 runs.
