Coal India Limited (CIL) has announced the execution of a Non-Binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IREL (India) Limited, a public sector undertaking under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. The MoU, signed on January 6, 2025, at the IREL headquarters in Mumbai, outlines cooperation for the development of critical minerals, including mineral sands and rare earth elements (REE).
Key Details:
- Objective: To explore opportunities in mining, extraction, refining, and sourcing raw materials of critical minerals, both domestically and internationally.
- Scope: Mutually agreed assets for critical minerals, including the development and acquisition of mineral sands and REE.
This collaboration is expected to strengthen India’s capabilities in critical mineral development, supporting the country’s strategic initiatives in resource security and sustainability.
