Following the death of the former Indian President, Pranab Mukherjee, the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo took to Twitter to pay his tribute to the great leader and praised Mukherjee’s “visionary leadership”.
“Saddened to hear of the passing of former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, whose visionary leadership was instrumental in bringing the United States and India closer together. We extend our deepest condolences to the people of India during this difficult time,” Pompeo said in a tweet.

Mukherjee, the 13th President of India, breathed his last on Monday, leaving his country shocked and saddened.
A formidable political strategist and parliamentarian with an astute legal mind, Mukherjee was born on December 11, 1935, in the village of Mirati, in the Indian state of West Bengal.
