Suzuki has issued a recall for the Fronx crossover in Japan over a braking issue. The recall, filed with Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism, affects 1,911 units of the vehicle manufactured between September 13 and November 8, 2024. The problem stems from improperly tightened mounting bolts on the rear brake caliper. Insufficient torque during installation may cause the bolts to loosen over time, potentially leading to abnormal braking noises or a reduction in braking effectiveness. In severe cases, the bolts could detach entirely, posing safety risks.
To address the issue, affected vehicles will undergo an inspection to check for insufficiently tightened bolts. If found, these bolts will be replaced and tightened to the manufacturer’s specifications.
The Suzuki Fronx, launched in April 2023, has been well received both domestically and internationally, with over two lakh units sold to date. The vehicle is derived from the Suzuki Baleno and has become popular in markets such as NCR, Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi, and Bengaluru.
In India, the Fronx is offered with both a naturally aspirated petrol engine and a turbocharged petrol engine, making it the only model in Maruti’s lineup with a turbocharged option. The car is priced between ₹7.52 lakh and ₹13.04 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in six variants: Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Delta+ (O), Zeta, and Alpha. A CNG option is also available in the Sigma and Delta trims.
