KTM is gearing up to launch the highly anticipated 390 SMC R, a supermoto variant based on the popular KTM 390 Duke. Unveiled at the EICMA 2024 show in Milan, the 390 SMC R has since been spotted testing on Indian roads, confirming its impending arrival in India. While KTM has not officially showcased the bike yet, its presence at India Bike Week 2024, where the KTM 390 Adventure S and KTM 390 Enduro R were revealed, has fueled excitement. The 390 SMC R is expected to hit Indian roads by early 2025.
As per the spy shot images, the 390 SMC R will feature 17-inch wire-spoke wheels, which are likely to come in a tubeless design for the production model. This setup enhances the bike’s off-road potential while maintaining excellent on-road stability. Spy shots indicate the presence of an India-specific saree guard, which suggests the bike is being homologated for local regulations. Interestingly, earlier spy shots revealed the bike with alloy wheels, which might also be offered in the Indian market alongside the wire-spoke version.

In terms of design, the 390 SMC R shares a close resemblance with the KTM 390 Enduro R, boasting a minimalistic instrument console, a compact LED headlight, and a sleek tail section. Its aggressive, lightweight build ensures excellent handling and performance, typical of the supermoto genre.
