The Central Government has appointed Shri Rama Mohan Rao Amara as the new Managing Director of State Bank of India (SBI), effective from the date of assumption of charge. This appointment was made through a notification issued by the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, dated 18th December 2024.
Shri Amara, previously serving as the Deputy Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer at SBI, has been appointed for a term of three years or until further orders. The appointment was made under the powers conferred by the State Bank of India Act, 1955.
The announcement comes as part of the compliance with the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. SBI has confirmed that Shri Amara is not debarred from holding the position by any regulatory authority, including SEBI.
